JOB SUMMARY

As a team member of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, you will help build a positive working environment where employees bring the Center’s mission of serving as a gathering place for all in our community to life.

Under the general supervision of the Center’s Health and Safety Supervisor, the Security Guard will provide support for enforcement of health and safety protocols and protection of property, assets and people of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center by maintaining a highly visible presence to deter illegal and inappropriate actions, observing (either directly, through patrols, or by using designated software and hardware) for signs of noncompliance, crime, fire or disorder; then taking action and reporting any incidents to appropriate house personnel and/or emergency services. This is a part-time position and requires many evening and weekend duties.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform the duties outlined in the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center Health and Safety Manual.
  • Give and receive shift change briefings.
  • Review the event and daily information sheets and make appropriate preparations if needed.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain a secure premise and prevent theft.
  • Operate electronic door control system to allow access into areas of the building as directed by house management.
  • Operate and be familiar with all aspects regarding health and safety screening.
  • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances. 
  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, employees, and event spaces to preserve, order, and protect property as well as notifying and alerting persons of rule infractions or violations. 
  • Monitor the behavior of patrons and employees in the building and on the grounds and respond appropriately to mitigate disorder or non-compliance with Center's policies. 
  • Provide additional health and safety services as deemed necessary by the production company.
  • Control access to and monitor activity in various parking lots.
  • Notify police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Receive deliveries, expect event load-ins  and manage the use of the loading dock.
  • Document and report daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Become proficient with health and safety equipment and computer hardware and software. 
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 3 years of equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must pass a physical prescreening assessment.
  • Must work flexible hours including frequent nights and weekends.
  • Must work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, all year long.
  • Must work in noisy and crowded environments.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Complete CPR/AED and First Aid Certification within one calendar year of hire.
  • Quick thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced oral and written communications skills.
  • Remain calm and controlled when working under pressure or in stressful and potentially dangerous situations.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. 

Physical Abilities:

  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects and materials up to 50lbs.
  • Occasional stooping, crouching, bending, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Fine finger dexterity.
  • Requires prolonged standing and walking up to four hours.
