Production Manager

JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the team of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, you will help build a positive working environment as well as inspire, transform and build our community through exceptional live experiences. You are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Center’s stage activities and functions relating to scheduled performances and public or private events.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage the production needs, onstage, backstage and in the Kimberly-Clark Theater for performances and events with production needs
  • Contact representatives of touring productions to coordinate requirements in advance of company arrival
  • Oversee local stage and technical crews during production load ins, work calls, rehearsals, performances, and load outs for events and performances
  • Coordinate stage preparation and restoration requirements for events and performances
  • Coordinate schedules, deliveries and event needs with event staff as appropriate
  • Assist in timely submission of vendor bills to finance
  • Manage and coordinate the receiving and distribution of production related deliveries
  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of production and stage related equipment and tools
  • Assist in the programming of an on-going preventive maintenance schedule and service of all the Centers stage and theatrical properties. Conducts inspections of theatrical systems with the intent of maintaining and enhancing stage operations
  • Assist in minor production technical needs as needed
  • Provide expertise regarding stage production to clients
  • Develop event reports at conclusion of productions as appropriate, detailing stage-related costs
  • Assist with the financial settlement of non-ticketed events in Thrivent Hall and promoter driven product
  • Assist head production manager in managing the production budget
  • Generate and process event reports (accident, problem, technical failure, performance, etc.)
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of four years of stage management experience, two with an emphasis in touring Broadway productions.  Experienced in professional stage technical work practices and procedures.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of technical stage production, including: carpentry, rigging, electrical, video, lighting, and sound
  • Ability to manage the stage aspects of presenting major touring theatrical productions
  • Ability to manage the work of a large group of stage crew members
  • Experience with implementing requirements of stage labor agreements
  • Knowledge of general and stage safety practices including occupational hazards
  • Knowledge of proper implementation of many different emergency procedures
  • Knowledge of proper use of power tools, hand tools, and stage equipment
  • Proficient in the use of computer word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to improvise and respond to unusual circumstances and requests with an attitude of service and flexibility
  • Required to work days, nights, weekends and holidays, as schedule permits
  • Physical requirements: ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs and work in high places

This is a Full Time Salary - Exempt position & reports to the Head Production Manager.
